GL45 Solvent Extraction Caps

Following the GL (glass laboratory) standard, the GL45 thread finish is a staple in laboratory glassware, recognized for its versatility and reliability across a wide range of applications. Found on glass bottles of various sizes—from small reagent containers to large solvent bottles—the GL45 thread is designed to ensure a secure, airtight seal, making it ideal for storing sensitive or volatile chemicals.

What sets the GL45 thread apart is its standardized design, which promotes compatibility across different manufacturers. This feature has made it a global favorite in laboratories, streamlining the interchangeability of caps, adapters, and accessories.

Integrated Evaporation Control

All Lab Lids safety caps for solvent extraction include ported inserts—threaded ports designed for secure tubing connections.
For integrated evaporation control, choose caps with built-in check valves that regulate airflow in a single direction. These valves allow air into the bottle to prevent vacuum buildup while solvents are pumped to the instrument.
Check valves are available in three material options based on chemical compatibility needs. Each seal material is color-coded by the threaded GL45 cap "collar" and by particulate filter at the center of the cap:
  • FFKM for nearly universal compatibility (yellow filter color)
  • FKM (green filter) and EPDM (blue filter) for cost-effective alternatives with a narrower compatibility range.
